Within a short distance from Puerto Galera you can visit many interesting places such as Tamaraw Falls, the Mangyan Villages (native Mindoro inhabitants), Aklag River or maybe you can spend the afternoon playing golf at the Ponderosa Golf Club 1,700 feet above sea level. You could also go jungle trekking, climbing Mt. Malisimbo, sail to other nearby Islands or rent a motor-bike and explore the adventourous area on your own.

You find the Tamaraw Falls about 10 kilometers outside Puerto Galera. Here you can enjoy a picnic in the scenic area and take a refreshing swim in the natural swimming pool. Nearby you can find the fishing village Villaflor with a nice sandy beach.

This is a one-of-a-kind 9-holes golf course situated on a 2,000 feet high mountain. The panoramic view of the entire Puerto Galera cove and several other islands from the golf course is breathtaking, and definitely worth the trip even if you are not a golfer. All golf equipment that you might need is for rent and the green fee is very reasonable.

Get a haircut while you are here, it will only cost you around 100 pesos (less than 2 USD) and includes a relaxing neck massage. The Mangyan people are the original inhabitants of Mindoro. They are a very nomadic people, who try to avoid outside influences. During the years they have gradually moved away from other settlers. They used to live by the sea, but now they have settled in mountaineous areas. You can only visit their village with a guide to make sure that you are welcome. The Mangyans are very shy people, so make sure that you have been given permission to take photos before firing away.

Enjoy a whole day of swimming, sun-bathing and relaxation at a number of beautifully located and undisturbed beaches around the area of Puerto Galera. Mermaid Resort can arrange for one of the local tour boats to take you beach-hopping and arrange a delicious beach barbecue with cold beers and softdrinks.

There are many opportunities for watersport activities. You can do snorkeling, banca boat and speedboat rides, go water skiing, rent a jet-ski, have fun on the banana boat and so on. We can also arrange for you to go on a kayak safari up the streams of the San Rafael River.

Every Sunday is a good time to visit the provincial capitol Calapan a good 3-hours jeepney drive away from Puerto Galera. The way to Calapan is a rather rough drive, but on the way you can enjoy breathtaking views and beautiful calamansi plantations. In Calapan you can make a bargain at the great market, and in the afternoon we'll take you to the big event of the day - the cockfights.

Enjoy the exciting night life in a tropical atmosphere. Sabang's night life district offers discos, pubs, pool bars and exotic dance bars. Mermaid Resort furthermore offers the exclusive restaurant and cocktail bar inside the resort, and the cosy cafe at Mermaid Diver.

Action is the name of the game, when you blast away at your opponents with paintball bullets in a scenic jungle location. This adventure includes a boatride to the location together with beach barbeque and the opportunity for going swimming and snorkeling.
